What the Demented Dentist Dreams by Neil Ellman

of lilies

floating in a sea

of

molars

bicuspids

claws that scratch

and jaws that bite

“open wide, my darling,

and let me plumb

your depths”

down

down

down

the rabbit hole

where

cavities are filled

with rapturous delight

“hold tight

while I extract your soul

and fill it with my own”

such joy

thirty-two virgins

wait in line

for me

to drill.
